Stealth

General | Skill Training | Tips & Tricks

General

Stealth is a great skill to have if you're a rogue or a thief. What it does is allow you to walk (not run) while hidden.

You need a minimum of 80 hiding in order to start using this skill; you can't stealth while on a horse; if you snoop somebody, you get revealed; if someone walks over you or you walk over somebody, you get revealed.

Your skill level determines how many steps you can take while hidden. At 10 stealth; you can take 1 step, at 20 stealth;
you can take 2 steps, and so on.

"MY" Complete Stealth Findings!! *What to Wear and When*

Ok this is what worked for *ME* on the 2 Characters that I worked, it is not perfect, but I do know that these findings work.

0 - 25.8 No armor needed or you could buy it from an NPC

25.8 - 57.4 Leather Gorget, Leather Gloves
Resists = Phr-4, Fire-8, Cold-6, Pois-6, Energ-6

57.4 - 65.0 Ringmail Glove, Leather Sleeves, Leather Gorget
Resists = Phr-7, Fire-11, Cold-7, Pois-11, Energ-9

65.0 - 84.5 Ringmail Gloves and Ringmails Sleeves,Leather Gorget
Resists = Phr-8, Fire-10, Cold-5, Pois-13, Energ-9

84.5 - 95.0 Ringmail Gloves, Ringmail Legs, Leather Tunic, Studded Sleves, Studded Gorget
Resists = Phr-12, Fire-18, Cold-11, Pois-19, Energ-17

95.0 - 100 Leather Legs, Chain Tunic, Ringmail Sleeves, Studded Gorget, Leather Cap
Resists = Phr-14, Fire-19, Cold-14, Pois-15, Energ-15 [See below in Tips/Tricks for training above 100].

*ALL* Armor worn was bought from NPC Vendors!!

I got on a Boat...... First Character started from 65 (8x8 all the way) took about a day and a half to GM , I was in and out of my house all that weekend.

Got on a Boat: Second Character started from 0 yeah I know it was a waste, but we now have numbers .....right?? *smiles* Anyways, I 8x8ed it all the way, took 2.5 days.

With the leather combinations I have listed, I got the best gains and they were steady once I found the right combination, I am not sure if the Resists have anything to do with anything, as I was only looking for the best Combos for gains, but I listed them anyways

Tips & Tricks

  • Macro-
    Useskill: Hiding
    Pause 11000
    Useskill: Stealth
    Pause 11000

    It works fine for 8x8, the grid cannot be lost if you just sit in the same spot unless the server resets. I've GMed two chars since Pub16 using this macro.

    -Shival

  • Training at low levels, I'd recommend sticking with studded leather and such. I don't think the resist levels have anything to do with it, only the actual "type", because my set of armor (ring sleeves, chain tunic, and plate gorget) were of runic make and the resists are quite high on them.

    Training past 100 is simple. I went from 100-120 wearing a chain tunic, ringmail arms, and a plate gorget. The gains were somewhat swift 8x8'ing it, gaining legendary status in 3 days of heavy macroing from 100. The items were no NPC bought, but pre-AoS, it didn't care what the AR level was, just the armor type, and it seems to remain so. The trick is to remember what peices to wear, which isn't well documented.

    I can confirm [Adonias' findings]. Spent 3hrs 8x8ing today using this particular combination. Went from 100.0% to 110.4%. Will try tonight too see how long it takes to hit 120%.

    BTW, I tried several other combos with similar resist ratings. This was the ONLY combo that got me gains. That maybe an anomoly, but it ain't broke....

    [edit] Hit a bad spot at 111.4%. Tried different armor combos. Nothing. Sailed around for 15 min. Picked it up again. [/edit]

    [...] Ok, got to 120% in 3hrs 20 min from 110.4%. The plate gorget, chain tunic, ring arms combo is the shit for GM+.

    I don't want the brain damage of waiting on GGS. Thx for all the work. It's solid.
