Fencing

General | Weapon List | Special Attacks | Skill Training | Tips & Tricks

General

Fencing is one of the four weapon skills (Swords, Fencing, Maces, and Archery). Fencing weapons are generally a bit faster than other weapons, however their damage can be very unpredictable and extremely random.

With the release of Age of Shadows, all weapons will have their special moves changed. They are no longer just "roll of the dice" type hits. They have to be activated upon use and require mana for each of the special attacks. Additionally, each weapon has a primary and secondary type move they can do. The primary move can be done at 70 weapon skill and the secondary at 90 weapon skill. Some details of the move are listed in the Weapon List table. You can find more detailed information in the Special Moves page.

`- These damage minimum and maximums might change with Age of Shadows. Stay tuned for updates. *-Good for training and, if it's a high end magic one and deadly poisoned, could seriousely wreck a mage.

^-Damage and Speed gathered from UOStratics and the Prima guide.

Special Attacks

Like Swords Maces, and Archery, fencing weapons have a primary and secondary attack. These attacks are described fully in the Special Moves page.

Skill Training

The Melee Training Guide will help you Grandmaster your fencing skill. Note: The best weapon to train fencing with is the dagger, which is the fastest fencing weapon and also does the least amount of damage.

Tips & Tricks

  • Every char starts with a newbie dagger that's a fencing weapon!
  • The fast kryss is an excellent weapon for an Assassin to apply his Poison on his kryss.
  • If you start with at least 1 point of fencing, you get a kryss that is newbified (remains with you when you die). It does pretty good damage and can be used to defend yourself after you die!
