Poisoning
Essay by P-NuTBefore you start
poisoning you have to make sure you have two things:
Cash (Around
200-250k) Alchemist (Mid 90s - GM) UOA
Otherwise getting it to
GM will take you ages and twice as much money. Poisoning skill is target based
(means that you have to use the skill on as many targets as possible to get a
gain). When you have that get yourself a bag with around 60-100 Blades (knifes,
daggers, swords etc.) line them up so you can keep track of what you have
already poisoned. Only work this skill in power hour because after you reach 90
it will get very expensive and you wouldn't want to spend extra 1000 shade for
a lousy .1. Make sure you have everything ready when your burst starts (i.e you
have 2 Kegs of poison pots and your bag of blades). When you start working your
burst you start off with poisoning the first blade in your pack and if you do
not gain you move on to the next one. As soon as you get a gain you can come
back to the first blade and do it all over again. As you may have figured this
can get very very tedious and boring...click a keg....use potion....target
blade. That is why UOA is a must when you work poisoning. There is a way to
make a macro that would go through all your blades but its hard to make and it
may not work properly if you are lagging. I used the following UOA
Macro:
Use Item Type
(Keg) Use Skill (Poisoning) Use Item Type
(Poison Potion) Pause 10000
*Note: You
have to add pauses in between lines as well.
This macro will
basically do the boring part for you (Click keg, use skill, find potion) and
will leave you with a target cursor and you will just have to click the
right blade (once again arrange them neatly). That is pretty much how I worked
the skill itself. The hardest thing is to come up with all that
shade (I used 80000). Therefore I would strongly suggest to get a runebook with
all the mage shops in Felucca as well as Trammel (and you might also want a
rune to a local Moongate so you don't have to use the stones).
Now the routine part, grinding potions. As I have mentioned before you have to
have a decent alchy. Grinding Lesser and even Greater Poison is not all that
bad but when you get to the point where you have to use Deadly Poison you might
want to make a macro for that too. Get a bag with about 11 mortars (or more if
you want) and a bag with 100 empty bottles. Create a UOA Macro that double
clicks the mortar and then targets the same mortar again (a shortcut to grind
the last potion). So the macro will look like this
Use Item
Target Pause 1000 Use Item Target Pause 1000 . .
.
Use Items is the mortar
and Target is the same mortar again. It will be a lengthy macro but it will
save you hours of grinding. This macro basically grinds the last potion with
every single mortar. Before you use it you have to make sure each mortar was
used to grind the appropriate poison type. I would start off by manually using
all my mortars to grind the potion I need and only then run the macro. When you
have finished grinding your pots the empty bottle bag should be full of green
bottles and you will just have to manually fill the keg (only takes about 4
minutes).
Here is the way I did
it Poisoning:
30 - 45 - Lesser
Poison 45 - 63 - Regular Poison 63 - 92 - Greater
Poison 92 - 100 - Deadly Poison
You don't have to start
using DP at 92. It is possible to GM Poisoning off GP only but that would take
a lot longer, so if you got some money and you want to get it over with asap
use DP.
I have recorded all the
shade that I've used to reach Grandmaster Status and the total came to:
80244 Nightshade.
Good Luck!
