Phazer Does Meditation
Meditation is the skill that determines at what rate you regenerate mana. To actively meditate you've to use the skill and you can't move, talk, use any other skills or use any items while meditating. Doing so breaks your meditation.

Whenever you are regenerating mana, you're passively meditating.

The rate at which you're regenerating mana depends on several factors:

  • Your meditation skill: The higher your meditation, the faster you regenerate mana.
  • Active or passive meditation? Actively meditating is faster.
  • What kind of armor are you wearing? All items except for clothes and normal leather slow down meditation. Some items prevent meditation completely.
  • Your intelligence. Meditation is fastest with 100 int. There is a significant difference between 90 and 100 int when regenerating mana with GM Meditation. With 100 int you can regenerate mana much faster than with 95.

Skill Training

There are two ways to gain meditation:
  • Active meditation: When you use the skill, you can gain meditation. For the best gains, meditate at (100 int - meditation skill) mana. A Mage with 100 int and 80 meditation has to attempt to meditate at around 20 mana. Actively meditating becomes harder the lower your mana level is.
  • Passive meditation: Whenever you regenerate 1 mana, you can gain meditation. This works even while actively meditating.

Both active and passive gains are movement-based (in addition to active meditations difficulty check). The best way to train is on a moving ship. Because of the easy passive gains, it's not necessary to manually 8x8 meditation, you can simply sail slow forward and make sure you don't have full mana (flamestrike the tillerman when you've 80+ mana or cast mana drain on yourself).

If you gain while actively meditating, move in the next resource square, make sure your mana level is low enough to gain and active meditation again. You can 8x8 meditation this way as well, however it's slower than passive gaining because of the 11 second delay between meditation attempts, and the fact that you've to cast spells to lower your mana level before you can gain.

Tips & Tricks

  • Instead of trying to meditate at 0-10 mana and failing, let your mana go up a few points and then try to med. you're much more likely to succeed then and you won't have to wait 11 seconds if you fail.
  • Cast cunning/bless on yourself and/or wear a magic wizards hat to speed up meditation even more.
