| Phazer Does Lockpicking |
| Lockpicking is needed to unlock chests. The
easier Dungeon chests can be unlocked with the unlock spell (some require GM
Magery), but the more difficult ones can only be opened with lockpicks. 50
lockpicking and 50 detect hidden is also required to remove traps.
Level 1 & 2 treasure chests can also be
opened by GM mages with the unlock spell, but for level 3-5 lockpicking is a
must.
There are 5 levels of spawning chests that
require different amount of skill to pick.

Skill Training You can get up to 95.0
lockpicking with GM Carpentry/tinker made boxes (As far as I know only the
tinker skill of the maker of the box determines the lock strength. Since
lockpicking is target based, you need lots of boxes. The easiest way to
organize them is in bags of 20, with a key ring holding the keys to re-lock all
the boxes (key rings only hold 20 keys.)
After 95.0 lockpicking you can only gain by
unlocking spawned chests in dungeons and towns.
Tips & Tricks
- After lockpicking a chest, step back and cast
telekinesis on it to remove the trap
- When picking a chest you can't take its
contents, you've to steal it. This doesn't apply to chests in dungeons.
