Phazer Does Hiding
The hiding skill makes your character invisible to other players and monsters. Hiding is required for Stealth (minimum 80.0 hiding).

The chance of successfully hiding depends ONLY on your hiding skill, it is not affected by other players, monsters or NPCs around you. At GM hiding you will never fail to hide.

You can't hide while you're attacking someone, or someone is attacking you. To get around this, you've to break the line-of-sight to all players/creatures attacking you. There are two ways to do this: One is to simply run away far enough. A GM Hider only has to be 8 tiles away, a less skilled rogue has to be farther away. The other way is to run around a corner, stand behind an item blocking the line of sight (like wall of stone, bookshelves etc..) or to teleport! When teleport-hiding, you've to press your hiding macro AFTER targeting your destination (very important), but before the teleport animation finishes. If you do it right, all creatures will no longer be aggressive towards you while you teleport, allowing you to hide.

Revealing and fighting hiders:
There are several methods to find and reveal hidden players (possibly enemies).

  • To find a hidden player, 20.1 tracking is required (real skill). Tracking will display a list of all players on your screen.
  • In felucca, you will get a message when walking over a hidden player. (If your stamina is not completely full you're going to bounce back.)
  • The 6th circle spell Reveal un-hides other players.
  • When standing next to a hidden player, use a purple potion but don't throw it. When the potion goes off, everybody around you is going to get hit and will auto-attack you. This will reveal hiders. When using this, you've to be sure you won't go criminal when the explosion goes off. Only use this tactic against grey/red/orange players. Be extra careful in guard zone.
  • The detecting hidden skill will reveal all hidden people in the area targeted. The higher your hiding, the more difficult you are to find.
  • Field spells affect hidden players just like all other players: Fire field, poison field and chain lightning/meteor swarm will force most players out of hiding. Again, be careful when using these skills that you don't hit innocent players.

    Skill training

Hiding is most easily GM'ed by actively using the skill. Because it is location-based, you've to move around to gain; Go on a boat and sail around. You can GM hiding in a few powerhours using 8x8.

Another way to gain hiding is by using the stealth skill. If you're also trying to GM stealth, you can use both skills to raise hiding.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Be careful when clicking a bandage while you're hidden: doing that reveals you. After you apply a bandage it's save to hide though.
    • Anyone can hide inside and around player-placed houses, even with 0.0 hiding. There seem to be similar zones around inns and in faction bases.
    • You can loot your own corpse while remaining hidden, however looting other's corpses will reveal you.
