Because whenever I try to answer a question where I don't really know the answer I end up looking like a moron.
Ah well, I've been accused of being a moron before, what the heck. I *believe* it is a general purpose bless deed that can be used on any one portable, non-stackable item. That's about halfway to a guess, though, so given Murphy's Law, I'm probably wrong.
As far as non-US players go, at the present time I have absolutely no idea whether or not our european marketing organization plans to participate in this promotion. Sorry :-(
Finally, it is one deed *per account,* not per char.

[Nieves] December 26 - 9:38 AM EST | As part of an effort to clean up things here at UOPG, I have reogranized the UOPG Forums, dropped a couple of unused forums, added an Ultima Online general discussion forum, and added a new gaming forum for an up and coming game. Please keep your Ultima Online, non-powergaming discussion to the UO:General Forum. UOPG Forum posting rules still apply in any forum hosted by UOPG.
As an additional note, you will see I have a couple of guild forums hosted. Please do NOT grief those forums. I will take out my mom's rolling pin of vanq and spank dat ass.

Sometime in the next couple of weeks, I will be pruning threads and posts to keep the hard drive space on the server down.
On a different topic: I updated a few of the skill pages with, up to now, current information. Thanks to Xvekez (welcome aboard!) and a few other UOPG readers I got tailoring, tinkering and carpentry information ready to roll in the next couple of days. Also, and thanks to another UOPG reader, we should have mining up soon as well.
Yeah yeah, I know, I should've had that done months ago.
And, finally, the PvP Fansite Tournament ball was dropped and went splat. Will we still have it? Fuck yeah. I was hoping to get some help with a few logistical things from a couple of folks and it didn't happen. I understand real life issues are a priority when compared to gaming, but I would've liked a note just to let you folks know what's up.
So, to all the people waiting on it and depending on me to announce it and have it going already, I apologize. It WILL happen. Just not this year. So to all of you holding on and wanting to donate, please continue to hold on and stick with me. I haven't let you guys down too much have I?? Look for it in January. If things go right, maybe I can get OSI to throw in a promotional copy of AoS.

[Prophet] December 25 - 9:06 PM EST | First of all, I hope everyone had a great day today. If you celebrate Christmas, then I hope you got everything you wanted. I know I got everything I did, but I was worried about not getting a backache. Fortunately it snowed like mad, so the fiancee and I shoveled her parents' driveway and voila! instant backache.
Lot of stuff going on in the world of UO as well. Holiday gifts came out, bunch of old stuff being re-used. I guess I'd rather them work on AoS and bugs (yeah right) than figure out new holiday gifts, so it's okay.
Early Settler rewards information has been released. The release says a housing mini-statue and a blessED deed. This caused all types of confusion and people saying they were bringing back bless deeds while others said it would just be a deed that is blessed that says "Early Settler" or something of the sort. Then MrTact on the myUO boards here corrected the release by saying:
I just double-checked our internal docs and it says "bless deed," which is what I thought we had discussed wrt this promotion. Not sure how it got changed to "blessed deed" for the website . . .
After this, MrTact again replied to this:
Ok so its a bless deed. So what? After AOS we will be able to insure things and give them temporary bless status anyway. So this just means you wont have to worry about keeping the insurance up to date on one of your items.

This was pretty much our thought. The dynamics of dropping your items is going to change dramatically with AoS. If insurance were not being added to the game, we probably would not have done this.
Also, it seems that Electronics Boutique is promising an in-game bonus item called a Hooded Shroud of Shadows if you pre-order through them. I'm not sure if other places are doing this, or if it is an EB exclusive thing or what. Still, the item looks decent enough (makes me wonder if hooded shrouds will be a craftable soon). But theres more. . . The whole combat system system is getting an overhaul, a lot of new special moves, changes - and additions of - to skills, changes to spells and new weapons. Did you get all that? No? Well head over to the AoS FAQ site and check it out!
As for me, I almost thought it was a hoax when I fired up my computer and read about the changes to Felucca. I might have to pinch myself to see I am not dreaming. . . Nope, still here. Anyways, I have to rush of to work. Why dont you all tell us here how you feel.

Stat-loss was added into Ultima Online years ago as one way to protect homeowners in Felucca from falling prey to frequent non-consensual PvP. But with the introduction of a vast new land for housing - Malas - that follows the same ruleset as the Trammel facet, homeowners will now have another choice as to where they wish to live, eliminating the need for stat loss. Whether you choose to adventure in the harsh and challenging environment of Felucca, where murderers and criminals roam free, or the relative safety of Trammel, Ilshenar or Malas, you'll be able to pick the location that is right for you. Age of Shadows will let life in Felucca return to its wild roots, and those that participate in the struggle between good and evil, or the weak and the strong, will be free and clear to follow their challenging lifestyle.

Felucca Dungeons and Lost Lands
With the sweeping changes to combat coming in Age of Shadows, we decided to take another look at the rules in the Felucca dungeons and Lost Lands servers. After Age of Shadows, the rules of combat in these areas will be as follows:
· Players that die in the Felucca dungeons/Lost Lands servers will lose any items that are not blessed or protected from loss in some fashion (see item insurance above).
· Players who die in these areas will no longer be kicked out of the dungeon, and will have no time limit imposed before they can return.
· Ghosts will be able to enter these areas.
· Thieves will be able to steal any item they are eligible to steal that are not blessed or protected from loss in some fashion
Oh and for all you Archery fans!!
Along with the special combat moves that will be introduced in Age of Shadows, a new ability will be available that is sure to ease the minds of Archers around Britannia: bows and crossbows will become repairable. You'll no longer have to worry about replacing your worn-out bows - a bowyer will be able to repair them in the same manner as blacksmiths repair other weapons! Archers will also be pleased to know that, just like other weapons, their bows will be able to be imbued with special item properties. More information on that will be released in a future spotlight on New Items and Item Properties.

[Nieves] December 4 - 7:07 AM EST | Of course we know that the Assassin community in general will not like these changes - however, this is one of those things we have to do for the good of the game.
Assassins in DAoC got nerfed a bit...ok ALOT! But, as you can see from the above statement, it was done for the "good" of the game (or so they say). They acknolwedge it's going to hurt and do it.
Hmm...I wonder if another gaming company can make that stance and actually fix overbalanced systems (FUCKING ONE HIT KILL VALORITE HALBERDS!) and make the game a bit more...fun.

Ok...let me just say this: Pay attention to their size. And then look at the price before buying. It may be good for those that want that kind of stuff, but make sure it's what you want before paying.

^ top-Fansite PvP Tournament Update
[Nieves] December 3 - 11:40 AM EST | It's still on as far as I know. I haven't heard from Jade lately (HINT-HINT) so we can set hard dates.
Here are some details: The GRAND Prize for the final winners (Final Tournament to be fought on Test Center) will most likely win an account all their own. Before you get all excited, it's not a GREAT 35x / Scrolled out account, but it's decent, got some nice items, AND, it's just in time for the release of AoS and it's new housing facet. I think you will get more use out of a new account than a pair of swords you don't ever want to use...And yeah, you have to pay the monthly fees afterwards!.
Note: OSI benefits from this sale? They continue to get 9.95/month from an account that was going to close. Think OSI should've given out two accounts to the winners with an ACS char of their choice on that account? I am thinking the OSI/EA Austin Marketing team missed this opportunity to earn another 9.95x2/month here...
Hell, I would've even have thrown in a UO T Shirt to all of the competitors, a small tower Malas plot (reserved in a non-placeable spot) to the shard champions and a Copy of the AOS Box to the grandprize winners (this is how they get their ACS chars)! Yeah, THOSE are fucking prizes. Not no damn freaking useless swords. Yes, Nieves is love. Um...sorry, I digress. Anyway...
I have commitments from most American shards for about 1 million gold (at a minimum) to be awarded to the winners on EACH shard (still need some foreign support here guys!) and commitments from ALL of the major UO Fansite to help advertise, staff, and even provide supplies and prizes. Does it sound big? Yeah. Even I am overwhelmed.
Tentatively, it's scheduled for the last two weekends in December and the first weekend in January. Think Football Playoffs and the Superbowl :D. And we will try to avoid scheduling these events during the playoff games so no worries.
As soon as Ms. Jade gets in touch with me (HINT-HINT) we will post rules and start scheduling the actual events.

[FrozenFire] December 1 - 2:33 PM EST | Theres a thousand names for them, and you know then all. The words the l33t veterans use to put down whoever they want. Newbie. Newb. n00b. Most of the time its easy to tell the new players from the old simply because of the way they dress or behave; orc helmets and tamed dogs in tow anyone?
Its been years since I passed that stage. But believe me I was there, and for quite some time too. I cant remember whether I wore an Orc helmet at the time, but I do remember how bad I fizzled my fire fields I used to kill the lich at the Grave Yard between Vesper and Cove. Of course, when the PK:s made their round, I fizzled my recall too, and had to start over again. Since then, Ive come along way, and UOPG has had alot to do with that. But sometimes I long for the days when the game was a mystery, when I didnt know so much (and where to find the info on what I didnt know). When a Lich's evil laugh actually excited me and when there were still vast areas to be explored.
The mystery and excitement will wear off in any game, just give it time. But right now Im having plenty of it in Neverwinter Nights. Ive long since given up on the notion that I will quit UO totally, but NWN is the game thats come the closest yet. So if you all are bored and feel like youre doing the same things you did yesterday, take a closer look at NWN. And if you like what you see, come try the NWN:UO server.
And if you do come on over, look me up. Im easy to spot, Im the one wearing the orc helmet. |
